Expat flies in for once in a lifetime purchase on Dee Why beach
A rare piece of real estate opposite Dee Why Beach that has only had two owners in seven decades has sold for $3.81 million.
Seven well-heeled professionals registered to buy 133 Oaks Ave last weekend all of them wanting it as an owner occupier property and the purchaser, an expat living in Singapore, paid $500,000 over the guide to secure the beachfront spot.
Ivan Markovic, of Putney, but based overseas flew into Sydney on the morning of the auction and bid strongly for the double-brick cottage facing north and looking over Dee Why Beach.
“We looked at Manly but see Dee Why as up and coming,” he said.
Real estate agent Jon Daley, of LJ Hooker Dee Why, said the corner block of 705sq m was a generational purchase and all the registered buyers were professionals looking for a prime piece of real estate for a new home.
“The sale brought out the professionals,” Mr Daley said.
“There were barristers, doctors and builders all looking for lifestyle,” he said.
